This paper analyzes the morphometric characteristics of areas affected by landslides in an important basin in urban area of Manaus (AM), the Mindú upper river basin. Geomorphometric data derived by digital elevation model was analyzed with landslides data point collected by Civil Defense. Topographic and thematic data were analyzed in geographical information system (GIS). The results indicate that the basin presents high vulnerability to the occurrence of landslides. This study shows that geomorphometric data and landslides records are of great importance for environmental management and for orientation of Civil Defense preventive actions regarding to the risk areas in Amazon cities.
